Never want to hand sew again!
Hey you guys! Sorry I haven’t posted in awhile. I was gone last week, but now that I’m back this poor, neglected blog will receive a little TLC.
IT’S FINALLY DONE!!! Ugh I never want to hand sew, hand bead, hand, anything again!! I started this gown around 3 weeks ago. I probably could have finished it sooner but I was procrastinating on it a lot…like I said, hand sewing…shivers. I used lace for the panels and then beaded around the edges. For the bodice I cut off some beaded appliqué from this dress I got at Goodwill. Then I put them in a design that I liked and hand sewed all of them together. I used hooks in the back so you can get in and out of it. I’m really excited with the way it turned out, but I’ve decided that my next project will be strictly sewing machine only! ; )
So I found something out…Woods + lace gown + mosquitoes + cat staring at you like your food + running back and forth between tripod and poses = not the best idea. Haha. The photos didn’t really turn out how I wanted, but oh well …I think I’ll see if I can find someone who can model for me next time. That would be so much easier! Have a great day.

Wow, this dress is really incredible! I can't believe you made it! I know what you mean about never wanting to sew by hand again. I don't have a sewing machine, so anytime I want to make something I have to do it by hand, which is probably why I hardly ever make clothes anymore. Or when I do, it's something small. I don't have a lot of patience for big projects like this dress!

That came out beautiful! Completely worth all the hand sewing if you ask me. I'd love to make something like this as a wedding dress, but it's bad luck to sew your own wedding dress so I guess that's just a pipe dream.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! All that work was worth it. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm speechless!
Wow. That gown is absolutley stunning.
ReplyDeleteWell done on the beautiful dress! It's stunning!
ReplyDeleteHoly freakin CRAP! that dress is stunning and incredible! it reminds me of something you'd see at Kleinfeld! I agree, machine sewing is SO much easier but i truly think your hard work paid off. it's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteit's sooooooo beautiful! I would totally buy it if it was for sale!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are crazy talented! My jaw dropped when I saw your dress.
ReplyDeletei freaking love this how did you do the bottom or the skirt of the dress did you just pleat it at the top under the beaded design or what? im super curious as to how you got it to fall like that but if you dont what to reveal your secrets ill understand
ReplyDeleteWow....wow...wow. What can I say. Amazing, jaw dropping....I'm just speechless since it's stunning and you're really talented!!
ReplyDeleteCan you see my face? Of course you can't. But if you could, all you would see is my gaping maw. I cannot seem to pull my jaw closed. This is so stunning. From the color to the detail to the silouhette. Bravo.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore this gown. I also enjoy designing and sewing my own things, and your blog is really inspiring :) Do you sell any of your creations? This dress would be lovely for prom!
ReplyDeleteThanks you guys. Amazingly I feel like hand sewing again...maybe the more you do it the more you like it?
ReplyDeleteBen- No secrets. There's actually no pleating or gathering. The skirt of the gown is just a bunch of individual leaf like panels that are sewed all together at the top. They just fall as they fall. I hope that helped you out...I'm not very good at describing things.
17 Hands High- Cool! I love finding more people like me who also sew. I'm thinking about starting an Etsy shop in September. I've been really busy lately but I'm definitely planning on it. I'll also be selling this gown if you’re interested. I won't be selling it till next year though.
Oh, Esther! This is AMAZING! I've been following your blog for a bit now and I'm always excited when you have a new post. This one was worth waiting for! I love to sew and made my own wedding gown last year (from a pattern!) and can't imagine creating what you do... but I am still trying. Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeletethank you i understand what you mean

ReplyDeleteDivine dress! I would like to have such on the Birthday :)
ReplyDeleteYour dress is absolutely gorgeous. I'm in high school right now and I love sewing but I've never done beading by hand, exactly because it seems so time-consuming! Congrats on the gorgeous gown.
